Fr. Evan Armatas, Presbyter
Father Evan is the priest of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox mission in Loveland, Colorado. Father Evan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Boston College with an emphasis in business management and Christian apologetics in 1991. He earned his Master of Divinity from Holy Cross in 2002 and served as an assistant priest for five years at Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village before being assigned as Saint Spyridon’s first full time priest in August of 2007.
In 2002, Father Evan founded and still manages the St. Nektarios Education Fund, a non-profit student education program. This fund has established three schools in Africa, provided over 430 student scholarships, and delivered over $330,000 in student aide through its network partners of IOCC and OCMC. Father Evan is the Metropolis of Denver Director of Camp Emmanuel and its summer youth camping program. He also currently serves as the Metropolis Clergy Council Vice President. Father Evan and his wife Presbytera Anastasia are the happy parents of three daughters, Alexia, Eleni, Maria and a son Spyridon. They live in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Dn. Mark O’Dell, Deacon
Dn. Mark is a native of Colorado Springs and as an “Air Force brat”, Dn. Mark lived in many places around the United States, with a couple of overseas tours thrown in. Dn. Mark graduated from CSU with both a BS in Mathematics as well as an MBA. He retired from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), a bureau of the U.S. Treasury Department in 2010. His career of over 30 years included many international assignments, including working in the OCC’s London office for nearly three years. After a long spiritual journey, Dn. Mark and Sh. Ina become Orthodox in 1995. Dn. Mark enrolled in the St. Stephens House of Studies in 1999 and was ordained a deacon in 2003. Until his retirement, Dn. Mark served as deacon at Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church in Lithicum, MD.
Sh. Ina O’Dell, Christian Education Director
With over 40 years of experience working with kids in churches, scouts, homeschooling their 2 sons for 17 years, Sh. Ina finally became an Orthodox Church School teacher for the first time in 1995. Sh. Ina and her husband, Dn. Mark, are returning here after living out east where they were a part of Holy Cross Orthodox Church. God has given her a great love for the children at St. Spyridon as she serves as the Christian Educationl Director.
Dn. Mark and Sh. Ina have two great sons, Luke and Zachary, and are the very proud grandparents of Finian Benjamin O’Dell, the son of Luke and Courtney.
Emily Lum, Youth Director
Born in Columbus, Ohio, Emily graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan with a studio art degree. She has been working with various youth ministries since high school and now is thoroughly enjoying working with the “kids” of St. Spyridon ages 0 to 35. Contact her for any questions about the “extra-curricular” events for the youth. There’s always something going on!
